In Yokoku Satsujin, the 2019 TV Asahi Japanese adaptation of A Murder is Announced, Michie (ミッチー) is the cook/housekeeper of Komichi-no-yakata (Little Hall - "Little Paddocks") and a close parallel of Mitzi from the original novel.

Like Mitzi, she prepares the meals at the house and is praised for her cooking but she does not bake a cake called "Delicious Death" in this adaptation. There is an additional element in her backstory in that six years ago, her young son jumped in front of Reiri's car and was killed. As the pedestrian crossing light was red, Reiri was not held to be at fault. Nonetheless, Reiri paid her money as compensation and gave her a job as housekeeper. Michie also dislikes "Rika" because when she moved in as a tenant, she took over Michie's airy and bright attic room as an art studio and Michie was relegated to an inferior room.

Michie's role is largely similar to that of Mitzi in the original. She is locked in the kitchen during the first murder but tries to see what's going on through the keyhole. Later she tells police that she had seen a man with Rika in her studio and she is sure that was Kurumai Kyuzo, the murder victim. Michie has a reputation for lying. Towards the end of the show Inspector Shokokuji tells her that as she had been lying all her life, she should, for once, do something to help others. He convinces her to stage the accusation during the denouement which helps unveil the murderer.

The part of Michie is played by Ruby Moreno
