In the novel The Secret of Chimneys, Prince Michael Obolovitch of Herzoslovakia was a distant relative of the, deposed and murdered, last king of Herzoslovakia. When the people wanted to restore the monarchy, they offered Michael the crown.

During his stay at Chimneys he used the pseudonym “Count Stanislaus”. He also posed as Mr Holmes from the publishers Balderson & Hodgkins, to retrieve the script to Count Stylptitch's memoirs from Anthony Cade.
