In the novel Why Didn't They Ask Evans?, Merroway Court is the home of Henry and Sylvia Bassington-ffrench. It is located in Hampshire, near the village Staverley. The traditional family estate of the Bassington-ffrench family, gaining control of it forms a main part of the motive for the crimes in the story.

In the LWT 1980 adaptation of the novel, Hall Barn at Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire was used as the filming location of Merroway Court.
In the 2009 ITV adaptation, the family name is changed to Savage and Merroway Court is changed to Castle Savage. Loseley Park, Guildford, Surrey was used as the filming location.
