Meitantei Akafuji Takashi: ABC Satsujin Jiken (名探偵赤富士鷹: ABC殺人事件 - Great Detective Akafuji Takashi: ABC Murders Case) is a 2005 Japanese television adaptation of the novel The A.B.C. Murders. It was the first of a series of two TV films produced by NHK featuring a detective named Akafuji Takashi (a Hercule Poirot parallel). "ABC Satsujin Jiken" was first broadcast on December 29, 2005 and followed the next day by the second film Meitantei Akafuji Takashi: Aishi no Sandoriyon which is an adaptation of Murder on the Links
Synopsis[]
The stories are set in Japan in 1936. The main protagonist is Akafuji Takashi who runs a used book store in Tokyo but who apparently onced worked as a private detective and had earned a reputation with the Tokyo police. In this first show, Kisaragi Taisho, the son of Akafuji's late best friend visits the book store. A mysterious letter arrives warning about an impending crime against "A" at location "A". The police soon confirms that such a murder took place.
