Agatha Christie Wiki

In the L'Homme au complet marron episode of TV series Les Petits Meurtres d'Agatha Christie, Martine Touchard is the wife of Jules Touchard. Both of them are concierges of the Lille Opera (Opera Moderne de Lille) and live in an apartment on the ground floor of the opera building. Early in the episode, her husband Jules is run down by a car while going to an interview with Alice Avril apparently about an incident he had witnessed (the shooting of Nadine Mercuret. Later, Martine's position as a resident in the building gets her entwined with the events at the Opera on several occasions. In one, the "man in the brown suit" is running away from the scene of Tatiana Pochenko's murder and bumps into Martine during his flight. Martine is a material witness and Tricard gets her to reconstruct (rather unsuccessfully) his appearance with an identikit. Later Sergueï Pochenko is wounded during an exchange of gunfire with someone and seeks refuge in her room (after threatening her with a gun). Towards the end of the episode, Laurence, assisted by Alice Avril and Marlene search Martine's apartment and find the microfilms which Sergueï had hidden there. Laurence then enlists Martine's help to make a phone call to someone to help set a trap for the Russian masterspy "The Colonel".

Martine Toucard is portrayed by Céline Cuignet. The closest parallel for her would be Caroline James, the caretaker at Mill House although the comparison is not exact.
