In the novel The Man in the Brown Suit, the Marquis of Loamsley is England's most famous sporting peer. Anne Beddingfeld found his card at the home of Henry Flemming and scribbled an annotation on the card, thus making it look like it was written by the Marquis. Miss Beddingfeld later used the card, with the faked message, to get in contact with Lord Nasby.
