In the novel Sparkling Cyanide, Marlingham is a town in Sussex. It was apparently a good location, with a golf course and the sea was only fourteen miles away. It was however not very accessible. According to Betty Archdale, a parlourmaid of George Barton, the place was "in the dead of the country" and did not even have a bus route. She refused to leave the town house and go down to Marlingham with the household and so was given notice.
Locations in Marlingham[]
- Little Priors - a country house bought by George Barton near the time of the events in the story
- Fairhaven Manor - neighbouring country house of The Farradays
- Sandley Heath golk links - six miles from the village
