In Le Crime est notre affaire the 2008 French adaptation by Pascal Thomas of 4.50 from Paddington, Margaret Brown is the manager of a dance troupe and the parallel of Madame Joilet in the original novel. Margaret Brown is portrayed by Laura Benson.
Unlike Madame Joilet, Margaret's dance troupe specialises in modern rather than classical dance or ballet. Prudence Beresford had earlier noted that the feet of the dead woman she had found were those of a dancer but probably not those of a classical dancer whose feet would have shown greater punishment. When Bélisaire Beresford looks up Margaret, she recognises him as "Colonel Bélisaire" and he, in turn, recognises her as "Lieutenant Brown", suggesting that she used to be in the Secret Service as he was. However, she speaks English and as the name suggests, is probably British. Margaret told Bélisaire that she used to have a dancer who left a few weeks previously, a Russian or Polish dancer named Anna Karenine (real name Anna Stravinska).
