Manning (The Murder at the Vicarage)

In the novel The Murder at the Vicarage, Manning was the chauffeur of Lucius Protheroe. He is about twenty-five years old. On the day of the murder, he drives Colonel and Mrs Protheroe to the village. Colonel Protheroe gets off to see Dr Quinton the vet and tells Manning that he will not need the car again, as he intends to walk home. Mrs Protheroe does some shopping, and Manning takes her parcels home in the car, leaving her by the church.
