In the novel Death on the Nile, Malton-under-Wode is a country village. Located in the village is the estate Wode Hall, previously owned by Sir George Wode. He sold it to the rich heiress Linnet Ridgeway, due to financial difficulties.
Also in the village is the pub The Three Crowns, managed by Mr Burnaby.
Malton-under-Wode is likely to be in Northamptonshire. Poirot says at one point that James Fanthorp's law firm is in Northampton, not far from Wode Hall.
