In the short story The Case of the Missing Lady, Maldon is a village in Sussex. The village is located four miles from the nearest railway station. There are two shops and a combined post and telegraph office in the village. The two public houses are called the King's Head and the Cock and Sparrow.
Tommy and Tuppence were drawn there in the course of their investigations into this case because their client had received a mysterious telegram purportedly sent from Maldon. At Maldon itself, they made a breakthrough when the learnt that the village is the location of The Grange, a medical facility run by Dr Horriston. They had early made an abortive visit to another village, also named Maldon but in Surrey.
