In the novel One, Two, Buckle My Shoe, Mabelle Sainsbury Seale traveled back from India to England on board the Maharanah. Mr Amberiotis was a fellow passenger. They were not in the same class of cabin and would not normally have met, but Mr Amberiotis helped Miss Sainsbury Seale in some matter concerning her luggage and, in so doing, earned her confidence.
