Dame Maggie Smith (28 December 1934 − 27 September 2024) was a British actress, who portrayed Miss Bowers in the 1978 film version of the novel Death on the Nile and Daphne Castle in the 1982 film version of the novel Evil Under the Sun. She was also the mother of actor Toby Stephens.
