Mabel West is a non-canonical character who is the main protagonist in the NHK series Agatha Christie's Great Detectives Poirot and Marple, a television series featuring the works of Agatha Christie adapted into anime format and broadcast in the Japanese language. In the world of this anime series, Mabel West is the sixteen year old daughter of Raymond West, the nephew of Jane Marple. She wants very much to become a detective and secures her father's reluctant agreement. She then goes to London to work for Hercule Poirot. In between cases, she also spends time living with her great aunt, Miss Marple, in St. Mary Mead where she also becomes involved in her cases. Mabel is usually accompanied by her pet duckling Oliver.
The captions in the various episodes give her name as "Maybelle". However, every internet resource, including the authoritative NHK website on the series gives her name as "Mabel". The pronunciation of both names in Japanese would be the same in any case. In the series, Mabel is voiced by Japanese actress Fumiko Orikasa.
