In the novel Murder is Easy, Luke Fitzwilliam is a police officer. After returning to England he met Lavinia Pinkerton on a train. She told him about several deaths in her village, and after her own sudden demise he went there to investigate.

- In the 1982 TV film, Luke Williams is an American professor of mathematical probability. He is played by Bill Bixby.
- In the short lived 1993 stage version, Luke was portrayed by Peter Capaldi.
- Murder is Easy was adapted as an episode for the series Agatha Christie's Marple, with Benedict Cumberbatch playing Luke. Unlike the book, where he is the central character, the episode incorporates Miss Marple into the plot, with Luke being made into a supporting player and Miss Marple now being the one who meets Miss Pinkerton on the train.
- In the BBC Radio dramatisation, Luke is voiced by Patrick Baladi.
- In 2015, Murder is Easy was adapted as an episode for the French series Les Petits Meurtres d'Agatha Christie, with Luke's role being filled by the show's usual protagonists Swan Laurence, Alice Avril and Marlène Leroy.
- In the 2023 BBC series, Luke (played by David Jonsson) is a Nigerian Whitehall official.
