Agatha Christie Wiki

In Rendez-vous avec la mort, the French adaptation of Agatha Christie's Appointment with Death for the TV series Les Petits Meurtres d'Agatha Christie, Louis Berg is the parallel of Raymond Boynton in the original novel. Louis is portrayed by Tom Hudson. This adaptation adaptation is not explicit about whether the Berg children are Clémence Berg's biological children, step-children or adopted but they are likely her biological ones.

Like Raymond in the original, Louis is the younger of two sons in the family although here he is significantly younger, probably in his late teens. Given his age, he is closer to Suzanne Berg, his younger sister who is only eleven. Because there is no parallel of Carol Boynton in this adaptation, the conversation about their mother needing to be killed takes place between Suzanne and Louis. Suzanne is the one who speaks and she says that they have to kill their mother and she goes on to tell Louis that she has a plan. This is overheard by Alice Avril and Marlene.

Louis has a smaller role in this adaptation than in the original. He spends his time fantasising about Marlène (which makes Marlène a kind of Sarah King parallel). Louis plays music and writes poetry. In his diary there is an entry about him being willing to kill for her but in the end commissaire Laurence concludes that he has too weak a personality to commit murder. Laurence sends Marlène in to elicit more information from Louis, playing on his attraction to her but she does not learn much that is significant.
