In the Parker Pyne short story The Case of the Discontented Soldier, Lorrimar is an actor employed by Ariadne Oliver to execute a set of scripted experiences calculated to give Major Wilbraham and Freda Clegg an impression that their lives were threatened. This was to fulfil their commission to Parker Pyne to bring some excitement into their lives. Lorrimar played the role of the Australian lawyer Mr Reid. For these services, Ariadne Oliver paid him five guineas.

Lorrimar is played Lewis Fiander in the TV adaptation of the story. In the plot of the show, Lorrimar was also the one who posed as an electrician and entered Freda's room to plant the treasure map. He also worked with Madeleine de Sara towards the end of the show to give Wilbraham and Freda the impression that they would be murdered by drowning in the cellar of the Whitefriars house. In the adaptation his fee was eight guineas.
