In the short story The Case of the Missing Lady, the late Lord Roberts is mentioned as a parallel by Tommy Beresford in casual conversation with Gabriel Stavansson. Stavansson said that he didn't like Lady Susan Clonray because he had an aversion to fat women. In response, Tommy said that everyone has his pet aversions. That of the late Lord Roberts, for example, was cats.
