In the novel The Moving Finger, Little Furze is Emily Barton's home in Lymstock. She rents it to Jerry and his sister Joanna at the beginning of the story. Little Furze had been Miss Barton's family home for a long time. She told the Burtons she had been very reluctant to rent it out but had been forced to do it by taxation. Partridge, Miss Barton's maid, stayed on at Little Furze to look after the Burtons.
Little Furze is located uphill of Lymstock on a the road which reaches up to some moors. It is described as a "a prim, low, white house with a sloping Victorian veranda painted a faded green." At the end of the story, Jerry Burton buys over the house from Miss Barton.
