In the short story The Flock of Geryon, Lipscomb is the lodge keeper at Green Hills Sanctuary in Devon, a commune used for retreats by "The Flock of the Shepherd", a religious sect run by Dr Andersen. Amy Carnaby whom Poirot had inserted into the sanctuary undercover to help with an investigation, found that Lipscomb was "immune from the general sweetness and light of Greenhill" and was incredibly rude. She complained to Dr Andersen but he felt that while Lipscomb is indeed crude, and a primitive soul, he is utterly faithful.

Later, when Amy Carnaby is with Poirot at a teashop near Green Hills, she looks at her glass and in the reflection spots Lipscomb at a table behind her. She suspected Lipscomb might have been sent to keep tabs on her and had to improvise quickly so as not to endanger the entire investigation.
