In the novel The Hollow, Lewis is one of the servants in the Christow household, probably a maid as in the scenes where she occurs, she is waiting at the dining table. She occasionally makes mistakes such as forgetting the salt and pepper shakers or plunging the knife into the roast the wrong way. These events gave Gerda Christow a lot of anxiety as her husband would get annoyed by them.
