In the novel The Body in the Library, Lansham Road is a road in St. Mary Mead. Basil Blake rented a cottage known as Chatsworth which is located on the road. The cottage formed part of a new building estate that had been bought be an enterprising property developer named William Booker. The estate was located about a quarter of a mile from the village proper, just beyond The Blue Boar inn and had a frontage "on what had been a particularly unspoiled country lane". According to the text, "Gossington Hall was about a mile farther on along the same road."
