In the novel Cat Among the Pigeons, Lady Valence is the mother of Jane, a pupil at the Meadowbank School for Girls. At one point in the story, the principal Miss Bulstrode writes Lady Valence a letter, concerning the trouble with Jane's ears and enclosing a doctor's report.
