In the novel The Pale Horse, Lady Brookbank won a pig at the Much Deeping fête. Discussing the aftermath of the fête, Rhoda Despard told Ariadne Oliver and a few other friends that she did not think Lady Brookbank really wanted the pig and she looked very embarrassed after the event.
