In the novel The Secret of Chimneys, King Victor is a jewel thief who recently has been released from a French prison. King Victor's father was Irish (or possibly English) and his mother was French. His real name is unknown and he often uses aliases and disguises. While in Paris, some eight years ago, he used the alias “Captain O'Neil”.
He is in league with the talented actress Angèle Mory.
