In the short story Ingots of Gold, Juan Fernandez was a galleon from the Spanish Armada which was said to have run aground and sank near Serpent Rocks with a vast amount of treasure of goldi ingots from the Spanish Main in her holds. Over the years many efforts had been made to find the wreck and salvage the gold ingots but none had been successful.
