In the short story Tape-Measure Murder, Jim Abercrombie is mentioned. He is the son of Sir Robert Abercrombie.
Years before the events of the story, there had been a robbery at the home of the Abercrombies. Very valuable emeralds were stolen, and were never recovered.
The police were of the opinion that Jim was involved in the robbery, as he had been in debt, and just after the robbery, all his debts were paid off. It was said that they were paid by some rich woman, but the police had not been sure.
