In the short story Swan Song, Jeritza is an opera singer who performed as Tosca the year before the events in the story. According to Mr Cowan, the manager of singer Paula Nazorkoff, Jeritz had made a great hit off it and had even sung the aria "Vissi D'Arte" lying on her stomach. Obviously, Nazorkoff was not amused to hear about her rival.
