In the novel And Then There Were None, James Stephen Landor was a man who was sentenced to life in prison, after William Blore had given false testimony during the trial. Landor died in Dartmoor Prison soon after, on October 10, 1928.

- In the 1974 film, the character was renamed Kurt Landor.
- In the 2015 BBC television miniseries, Blore violently beat Landor to death in prison because he was gay.
