In the novel Sleeping Murder, Jackie (J. J.) Afflick is a local man. First he was working as clerk in the law firm Fane & Watchman, but was dismissed for a cause, but was possibly framed. He briefly socialised with Helen Kennedy, when she returned from school.
He is now married to Dorothy, and is a businessman with a coach tour service (Daffodil Coaches, Devon and Dorset Tours), based in Exeter.
