In Le cheval pâle, the French Télévisions film adaptation of Agatha Christie's The Pale Horse, for the Les Petits Meurtres d'Agatha Christie TV series, Irène is the parallel of Sybil Stamfordis in the original story.
Irène is one of two women who dabble in the occult (there are only two of them in this adaptation) and operate from a tent at a fairground owned by Eugène Dacosta. Like Sybil Stamfordis, Irène's role is that of a medium and she is subordinate to Sybille, the other woman in the team. In this adaptation, Irène appears reluctant to go on with what they are doing and time and again tells her partner that she wants to quit. Unique to this adaptation, towards the middle of the episode, Irène is murdered at the fairground and her body is placed into the ferris wheel. Most likely this was done because Irène, in wanting to quit, endangered the security of the "murder-for-a-price" operation she was part of. Whether she knew what exactly her actions were a front for and wanted out, or whether she was simply tired of being a medium is not discussed.
Irène is portrayed by Laetitia Pembele Kandi.
