In the novel Hickory Dickory Dock, Inspector Sharpe is the investigating officer who is called in when Celia Austin is found dead at the hostel in Hickory Road owned by Christina Nicoletis. He found Hercule Poirot there and welcomed his involvement.
Sharpe had apparently worked with Poirot before. He reminded Poirot of the time they met during "that business at Crays Hill".
TRIVIA[]
In Japan, Inspector Japp is sometimes renamed to Inspector Sharpe, possibly due to the derogatory implications attached to the word "jap". It likely has no relation to this minor character. A notable adaptation that used the name Inspector Sharpe in place of Inspector Japp is the animated series Agatha Christie's Great Detectives Poirot and Marple.
