In the short story The Erymanthian Boar, Inspector Drouet is a Swiss policeman. When Swiss Commissionaire of Police Commissionaire Lementeuil learnt that the dangerous killer Marrascaud was heading for the Swiss mountaintop resort of Rochers Neiges, he sent Drouet ahead to the resort as part of an operation to take the criminal alive. Drouet disguised himself for a time as a waiter named “Robert” but he was later murdered by Marrascaud. Marrascaud posed as Drouet when Poirot arrived at the resort but Poirot was not deceived. As someone who had spent a long time in the police force, he could spot another policeman easily and Marrascaud just did not behave like one.
