In the short story The Dream, Hugo Cornworthy was the secretary of the millionaire businessman Benedict Farley. Hugo had a secret affair Benedict's wife Louise Farley, and he plotted with her how to kill his employer while making it appear that it was a suicide. Part of the plan involved Hugo impersonating Benedict Farley and meeting Poirot.
Portrayals[]
Hugo Cornworthy was played by Alan Howard in the film adaptation of The Dream in Series 1 of ITV's Agatha Christie's Poirot drama series. Howard also played the part of Benedict Farley in the show, which, considering that Hugo had to impersonate his employer, seems quite appropriate.
