Hughes is a non-canonical character who was created for the film adaptation of The Adventure of Johnnie Waverly in Series 1 of ITV's Agatha Christie's Poirot. He is a builder who has been doing the restoration works on Waverly Court, the country house of squire Marcus Waverly.
Hughes told Poirot that he had stopped the restoration works. Waverly told him that money would soon be available and that the works could resume soon but Hughes doesn't really believe it. Hughes believes that Waverley's wife Ada Waverly is the one with all the money but she is miserly and not interested in restoring the house.
Hughes is portrayed by Patrick Connor.
