In Le crime ne paie pas, the French adaptation of The Murder on the Links, Monsieur Hubert Petitpont is an inspector of the Paris Sureté. He is the parallel of Monsieur Giraud in the original novel.
Hubert is the susbtitute of Laurence, so he investigates the murder of Paul Deboise. He arrests Paul's son, unaware that the real murderer is Eloise Moran.
