Hot Bean Salad is a recipe which Agatha Christie contributed to the book Celebrity Cooking, a compilation prepared by Renee Hellman of recipes submitted by various famous personalities and first published by Paul Hamlyn in 1967. The book features over 400 recipes from people such as Alfred Hitchcock, Peter Sellers and Lyndon Johnson. Surveying the collection, the editor remarks on the inside front flap that "If any conclusions can be drawn it is that Americans as a whole have more of a sweet tooth than the British, and that food mirrors only too accurately one's personality."
Christie's recipe is for a preparation comprising French beans mixed with potted prawns and bacon bits, all heated by having hot oil poured over them.
