In the novel Postern of Fate, Hollowquay is a village on the English Channel coast. Tommy and Tuppence bought a house and moved there. By that time, it was a "has-been". It was first a fishing village but was then developed as an "English Riviera". Lately it had become "a mere summer resort, crowded in August". It has or once had a naval base.
