In the novel A Caribbean Mystery, Harry Western is mentioned in connection with a murder case that had taken place at the Golden Palm Hotel a few years before the the events of the novel. Major Palgrave mentions the story to Miss Marple when she asks if anything ever happens at the hotel.

Miss Marple considered it likely that Harry had shot the Count de Ferrari, his wife's lover. She also thought it likely that his well-arranged alibi had been bought and paid for.
