In the novel Hallowe'en Party, Harry Griffin is the landlord of The Green Swan, or was, some two years before the events in the book. He is married to Sandra. His wife had been conducting an affair with Lesley Ferrier. When Lesley was found murdered near the pub, stabbed in the back, both Harry and Sandra became suspects, Harry because jealousy made a plausible motive, and Sandra because Lesley had just broken off the affair to go with other girls. However nothing was ever proven against either of them.
