In the authorised Miss Marple continuation short story The Open Mind, Harrison is the name of a former research student at St Bede's College, Oxford.
Over dinner at the high table during the Founder's Day celebrations at the college, Miss Marple learnt of many of the foibles of the Master Professor Cuthbert Cayling. One involved a former postgraduate research student named Harrison. Cayling took advantage of her and although many people thought she should just have remained quiet about it, she decided to make a complaint to the university. It boiled down to a matter of Cayling's word against hers. He claimed that she had been just as keen as he was but that she just changed her mind. In addition, Harrison had been caught in bed with a boyfriend after curfew a year earlier and this did not look good for her case. The complaint did not succeed and later she was passed over for a Junior Fellowship. According to Dr Eammon McManaway, the whole situation hit Harrison hard. He had the room next to hers and often heard her crying in the night. He used to sit up and talk to her when she was too frightened to sleep.
