In the short story The Dead Harlequin, the Harchester Galleries is an art gallery on Bond Street. In the story, Mr Satterthwaite attends an exhibition there of the paintings of a up and coming young artist named Frank Bristow. While there, Satterthwaite first sees a painting entitled The Dead Harlequin. This painting excited Satterthwaite, rather uncannily, because he thinks he recognises the subject of the painting as well as the scene it is set in. What happens next forms the main plot of the story.
