In the stage play The Lie, Hannah Reeves (née Endicott) is the widowed mother of Nan Gregg and Nell Reeves. She lives with her eldest daughter and son-in-law. Also living in the house is her mother, and her other daughter.
She married her husband out of love, against her family's wishes. After the wedding he turned out to be a liar, a cheat and a bully. Within a year her love was dead.
