Gerald (Taken at the Flood)

In the novel Taken at the Flood, Gerald is mentioned. He was a cousin of Frances Cloade. During his time at Oxford, he forged a cheque. After that he fought in the war and was killed. He was awarded the V.C. posthumously, for complete bravery and devotion to his men and superhuman endurance.
