Agatha Christie Wiki

In the novel Death in the Clouds, Georges is the concierge at the apartment building where Madame Giselle lived. He grumbles about having the police at the house, as he said it would give the house a bad name.

Some time before the events of the novel, Georges' wife had been ill, and Madame Giselle had paid for her to go to a hospital in the country.

Georges tells M. Fournier that a lady came to see Madame Giselle the night before her flight to England. However, he says that his eyesight is not good, and he did not look at the lady closely, so he is unable to say whether the lady who came was in any of the photographs Fournier showed him.

Georges also insists that he cannot remember if she was tall or short, dark or fair, or young or old. However, Poirot catches him off guard when he asks if the lady was chic. Poirot then shows Georges a reproduction of Lady Horbury in bathing costume, and observes that Georges gives a slight start. This leads Poirot to conclude that it was indeed Lady Horbury who called on Madame Giselle that night.
