George Rogers is a non-canonical character created for the 2009 ITV adaptation of Murder is Easy. He is the gardener at Hexley Hall at Hexley, not far from Wychwood under Ashe and downstream on the river Wychbourne. George Rogers is portrayed by Steven Hartley.
In this adaptation, Luke Fitzwilliam had found Bridget Conway's movements rather suspicious. He followed her to Hexley Hall where he saw her asking Rogers about a photograph. Luke questioned Rogers about this afterward. He told Luke that Bridget's photograph showed a spot on a reedy part of the riverbank on the grounds of the hall. There was a girl in the photograph. Rogers identified the girl as "Fruity Fleming", a local Hexley girl who later later married and became Mrs Lydia Horton.
During the denouement at the end of the episode, Honoria Waynflete revealed that she had given birth to Bridget but couldn't keep her so she placed the baby in a basket and floated it down the river. It apparently came to rest among the reeds at Hexley Hall at the spot on the photograph. Lydia found the baby but she couldn't report it to the police because it would have revealed that she was on the hall grounds having a fling with Rogers (according to the timeline of the story, by this time she was already engaged or married to Horton). The baby was eventually adopted by the Learys, an American couple who were holiday guests at Hexley Hall.
