In the novel Sleeping Murder, Galls Hill is a house in Woodleigh Bolton. It's the home of Dr Kennedy. The house is on the highest point of the hill where the village of Woodleigh Bolton is located. It commands a view over a field known as Woodleigh Camp and the moors towards the sea. Gwenda Reed and her husband Giles visited the house to call on Dr Kennedy to seek information about Gwenda's father. They noted that the house was bleak and that "obviously Dr Kennedy scorned such modern innovations as central heating." He also employed a "dark and rather forbidding" housekeeper.

In the ITV 2006 adaptation of the novel, Kit's Close, Fawley, Buckinghamshire was used as the filming location although this Art Deco house hardly looks "bleak".
