In the novel Dumb Witness, Gabler & Stretcher is a firm of house agents on the Market Square in Market Basing. The firm is responsible for trying to sell or let Little Green House, the former home of Emily Arundell. As part of their preliminary investigation into the death of Emily Arundell, Poirot and Hastings go to Gabler and Stretcher to get background information about the house and former occupants. The receptionist Miss Jenkins and another person John received them without enthusiasm. They were unable to provide any information and seemed unable to find the relevant information sheets and flyers. Fortunately, Mr Gabler came back to the office and proved very helpful.
