George Douglas Howard Cole (25 September 1889 – 14 January 1959) was an English political theorist, economist, writer and historian. As a libertarian socialist, he theorised guild socialism. He belonged to the Fabian Society and was an advocate for the co-operative movement. He was married to Margaret Cole, with whom he wrote several detective novels, mostly featuring Superintendent Wilson of Scotland Yard.
