In the L'étrange enlèvement du petit Bruno, the French adaptation of Agatha Christie's The Adventure of Johnnie Waverly for the TV series Les Petits Meurtres d'Agatha Christie, Gérard Kerner is the parallel character of the unamed tramp in the original story.
Gérard Kernere is a character and bit role actor who is recruited by Hadrien Debaer for his scheme to kidnap Bruno Zennefort. He has a bigger role than the tramp in the original. He does turn up at the chateau just a few minutes before the stated kidnapping time with a note, which he claims someone had given to him. Later, after the kidnapping, he makes arrangements to meet Alice Avril to deliver a demand for ransom. At this meeting, in an abandoned factory, Alice never gets to see him. He sent his labrador pet dog with a package in its mouth to deliver the ransom demand to her.
Later, Marlene sees Kerner's face in a movie magazine and recognises him as a tramp. Alice helps to set up an interview of Kerner by Marlene who poses as a "Voix du Nord" reporter. After the interview, Alice tails Kerner to a townhouse. When later, Alice sees Kerner re-emerging with a labrador dog, she is certain Kerner is one of the kidnapping gang. Kerner was arrested at the end of the episode. The character of Gérard Kerner is played by Serge Dubois.
